Domingo Ayase[Sharehouse]
Carefree living with friendly housemates in downtown Tokyo.
Domingo Ayase is near the popular Asakusa and Ueno districts, both of them centers of traditional Japanese culture. The 9 bedroom sharehouse is a 9 minute walk from Ayase station. Supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies around the station are enough for daily needs, and there are also old-style izakaya bars, greengrocers, barbers and other long-running independent stores. You can see kids queuing up to get into their favourite candy shops and old men leaning at their counter of their local bars. The lady at your local diner will soon remember your face. The local park is a venue for annual August dances. You can feel the strong sense of community here. Coming home from work in the city, the moment you get through the barrier gates at Ayase station you will breathe a sigh of relief. The house is mixed sex. Couples can apply. Friends are welcome to come and visit. As long as you don’t trouble other housemates or neighbouring residents, you can do what you like. The house has its own character: handwritten welcome messages on the living room blackboard; a housemate taking a nap on the sofa; souvenir snacks from a trip laid out on the table; graffiti-strewn message pad; jars of seasoning and sauces for everyone to share. Stories circulate of residents staying up until the early hours drinking together. All rooms get plenty of sunshine and a breeze. The rent is very reasonable. Air-conditioning, a bed and a refrigerator are included. All you need is a futon and you can start your new life. Ayase is on the Chiyoda line with direct trains to Ueno, Akasaka, Omotesando and Harajuku so ideal for people working in those areas. Downtown Tokyo can be a great place to relax with easygoing housemates. Why not give it a try?
