Flyboard! Fly up out of the water!

Flyboarding is an extreme water sport that uses the propulsion from a jetski. An extremely safe sport, once you have grasped the basics, you can try out a few tricks and enjoy some air-walking. It’s the latest craze. The first step is hovering – standing still in mid-air. The speed with which you can improve is one of the big attractions of flyboarding. You don’t need to bring any more than your swimming costume. Chiba Minato station where you can try this activity is only a 40 minute train ride from Tokyo.

The flyboard experience course 5,500 Yen (1hour)
*Participants must be over 140cm and have 22cm sized-feet or larger.

Hydrospeed through rapids, a thrilling adventure!

What is hydrospeed? Simply put, it’s bodyboarding on a river. A thrilling extreme water sport where you control a board to navigate your way downriver through the rapids. The upper Tone river in Gunma prefecture is one of the fastest rapids in Japan, attracting lots of visitors who come to enjoy the big waves. The river is right in front of your eyes, floating along the surface you get spectacular views of the wave and spray breaking up in front of you.

Highest bungee jump in Japan

Bungee jumps from Ryujin Gorge Suspension bridge since March, 2014. The bridge is 100 metres high, making this the highest bungee jump in Japan. Looking directly down from the bridge makes the heart start racing. The view from 100 metres up is unbelievably scary…

First jump costs 15,000 yen.
A second jump on the same day costs 7,000 yen.
*Participants should weigh between 40 and 105kg and should be over 15 years old.

Paintball in the biggest field in Japan.

Paintball is an extreme sport that uses a gas-gun to fire pellets filled with paint to attack a rival team. If the pellet bursts and a participant is marked with paint, they are out. Basically, the point of the game is to fire a pellet at the opposition. The rules are simple and straightforward. It is a sport that anyone can enjoy regardless of age or gender. Have you ever heard of kiteboarding? It is an extreme sport that combines a kite and a board! There are many types of boarding from waterboards to mountain boards to snowboards. Kiteboarding is great fun when the wind is up! More than anything else, it is really cool! With a little practice and a grasp of the basics, you can soon master a few tricks. It is great fun just to practice on the water. Of course, even if you fall over, it doesn’t hurt. Why don’t you have a go? This sport is going to become really popular in Japan. Zorb: Rolling around inside an enormous ball!

Zorb is an extreme sport from New Zealand where you roll around inside a double layered ball while descending a slope. Two types of zorbing, water-walking and harness-type, are available in Ashikita Seaside Park, Kumamoto Prefecture. The water-walking involves pouring water inside the ball and rolling it down a slope. Of course, this means you will get very wet so we recommend a swimming costume or wearing old clothing. It is like being inside a washing machine!

Water-walking: Adults 800yen / Children 600 Yen
*Children of elementary school age or under should be accompanied by an adult.
*Two adults or 3 children can ride at once. (A limit of 150kg)
*Change of clothes is essential.
Harness-type: Adults 800 Yen / Children 600 Yen
*Participation is not available for people 140cm or less or weighing 100kg or more.
*From July 1st-August 31st only water-walking is available.

Dual-snowboarding: The new craze.

Do you what dual snowboarding is? It is snowboarding where you attach both feet to separate small boards. Only recently arrived in Japan, dual snowboarding is getting a lot of attention as an extreme sport – perfect for people getting bored of snowboarding!

  • Boards are light
  • Separated feet allows a lot of freedom of movement
  • You can walk straight on to the snow lifts!

Compared to snowboarding, it is an easy sport to enjoy. With boards costing around 20,000yen, this is destined to become a very popular activity. First of all, rent some boards and try it out at an indoor ski slope. If you start now, you will be ready to become king of the slopes in winter.

Wind-tunnel flying

Wind-tunnel is a kind of indoor sky-diving. The flight inside a 17metre high glass tube, is the equivalent of two dives from 4,000metres up.

Rafting down the best rapids in Japan along the Yoshino river.

The rapids of the Yoshino river are the most famous in Japan. Running between Kochi and Tokushima prefectures, the Yoshino river, also known as a mecca for rafting, lacks nothing for length, degree of descent or height of the waves. You don’t even need to be able to swim. Life-jackets are provided.

Tandem skydiving: See Tokyo from the up in sky!

How about a bit of weekend skydiving?Skydiving is an unbelievable thrill and a sensational experience. Beginners are welcome. The venue is just an hour from Tokyo. In tandem skdiving, you fly with an instructor. No need for special training, you can just listen to the briefing. 20 minutes after taking off, you will dive out at 3,800metres – higher than Mount Fuji. If the weather is good, you can see all over Tokyo.
